Off Grid Camp changes that. For £25/year, members get access to our network of nearly 200 unique, secluded, and privately-owned locations. We provide direct access to sites designed specifically for self-sufficient adventurers like you, enabling exploration beyond those frustrating options.
Our Story: The Road to Off Grid Camp
Hello! We are Tom and Rozzi, the husband and wife team behind Off Grid Camp. Our journey began with a shared love for adventure and a Land Rover, but also a moment of stark realisation. Early on, a camping trip to a crowded, conventional campsite was far from our idea of connecting with nature. We knew there had to be a better way than the constant "faff" of searching for truly wild spots.
Then, during an adventure to The Outer Hebrides, our 'aha!' moment hit. We realised we could build a dedicated community. A network that connects overlanders seeking wilder, permitted camping spots with landowners willing to share the wilder corners of their land. And so, Off Grid Camp was born. Since launching in 2022, we’ve grown the network to nearly 200 locations across the UK. With Tom’s family running a hill farm on Exmoor and Rozzi being a trained agronomist, our passion is rooted in supporting rural economies by sharing these incredible places.
How Off Grid Camp Works: Your Access to Unique Locations
For your annual membership fee, you gain access to our extensive network of nearly 200 locations across the UK. Our system simplifies finding your next adventure by connecting you directly with landowners. When you become a member, you get access to the contact details for all locations, and you book and pay hosts directly. This direct access bypasses the guesswork and provides you with the peace of mind that your stay is always permitted.
Our Core Promise: The Off Grid Camp Pledge
The access you gain through Off Grid Camp is built on a foundation of mutual respect and self-sufficiency. Every member commits to upholding the "Off Grid Camp Pledge":
I agree to be self-sufficient: I will not expect toilets, bins, water or any facilities unless these luxuries (!) are offered by the individual Off Grid Camp locations.
I agree to leave no trace: I will take all rubbish away with me and leave no trace. Not even a rogue tissue, burnt fire mark or unnecessary tyre tracks.
I agree to ‘The Poo Pledge’: Where no facilities are provided, I agree to bring a shovel or to have a self-contained toilet and ensure that there is no evidence of my business for future campers.
I agree to drive responsibly and within my capabilities at Off Grid Camp locations: I will liaise directly with landowners and adhere to their requests.
Finding Your Perfect Escape: Our Rating Systems & Details
We provide clear rating systems and comprehensive details on every location listing to ensure you choose the ideal spot for your vehicle and your desired level of solitude:
Each location page includes a detailed description and information including tap water availability, dogs, campfires and logs.
Here are our rating systems:
Vehicle Rating:
1: Any vehicle: Generally accessible by most vehicles, including standard cars with reasonable ground clearance. Tracks are usually well-maintained and relatively flat.
2: Off-road capable: Suitable for vehicles with higher ground clearance, potentially all-wheel drive or 4x4. May involve some uneven terrain, steeper inclines, or slightly rougher tracks. Caution and good driving are advised.
3: Experienced off-road drivers only: These locations are designed for 4x4 vehicles with good off-road capability and experienced drivers. Expect challenging terrain, steep inclines, ruts, and obstacles. Recovery gear may be necessary.
Off Grid Rating:
1: Buildings or public road within 500m: You'll be in a more accessible location with some signs of civilization nearby.
2: Pretty off grid: You'll feel reasonably remote, with the nearest signs of civilization further away than 500m.
3: Totally off grid. No sign of civilization: Expect a truly remote experience with no visible buildings or public roads.
