This week, we sat down with Richard AKA YouTube's @indi_van_a_jones.
Who are you, and what do you do?
My name’s Richard – I’m a truck-driving digital nomad with a passion for life on the road. You can follow my adventures on my YouTube channel ‘Indi_Van_A_Jones’.
What first sparked your love for vanlife / life on the road?
It was the convenience and freedom of vanlife that first hooked me – the ability to do anything, anywhere, anytime. Vanlife gives me the independence and flexibility to live life entirely on my own terms.
What can people expect from your session at Vanlove Fest?
My session will be based around going from having everything that we are told to aim for to having nothing then finding true happiness thanks to vanlife. We will talk through starting vanlife on a budget, and the hints and tricks that I've learnt along the way to make the most of this awesome lifestyle.
Describe your dream van in 3 words.
I already have my dream van ;) VW Crafter LWB.
What’s one vanlife myth you’d love to bust?
I'd love to bust the myth that vanlife isn't all what it seems online, it's not all foraging for food and nice park ups but it is what ever you make it for yourself. Everyone's dream is different.
What’s your go-to comfort ritual on the road?
My comfort ritual is keeping the lights off and curtains open for as long as possible in the middle of nowhere listening to the birds singing at sunset and the star gazing after dark.
What does ‘Vanlove’ mean to you?
To me vanlove means booking the Monday after the weekend off work to recover from the hangover and reminisce the epic memories made that weekend!
